Learning project management by observing senior members.

After joining the company, I spent my first four years working as a system operation manager for financial clients. My job was to find solutions while handling consultations from clients seeking stability when running their systems. Of course, it is important to avoid system failures; however, even the equipment which runs the system can break down. For that reason, I proposed making periodic backups to prevent any impact in the unlikely event of a breakdown and considered the necessary procedures for system restoration. Through such measures, I built robust operational systems capable of responding to unforeseen circumstances.

Initially, I did some programming as part of my work. However, after a year or two, I was placed in charge of managing projects. There was a senior member who I admired as a role model, and I learned a lot about project management by watching his work. That senior member was capable of understanding the feelings of clients and members of our company, so I always observed the perspective which he took while conversing with others. That senior member served as my ideal vision of a working professional, and I was extremely lucky to have a clear path to follow.

I believe that taking on new challenges leads to growth.

In the case of my financial clients, their physical servers were often located at their premises, so I visited client sites to set up systems. However, I wanted to try something new, so I studied cloud computing on my own, despite it being unrelated to my work. I even obtained certification in cloud computing.

Right around that time, another department at our company was recruiting members for a cloud-related project. I applied and was selected for the project. The project was for an education client, and I was initially surprised at how work was carried out completely differently from my projects with financial clients. However, my previous experience in working with clients who have a completely different way of thinking allowed me to take a broader approach in the new project. I was finally able to make proposals for cloud-based solutions. I feel that I grew significantly from the new challenge.

Becoming a leader who is part of the team.

Becoming a leader who is part of the team.

The ID Group is “dedicated to the creation of an exciting (Waku-Waku) future for everyone.” When I have a choice, I choose what I find exciting. One strength of ID Holdings is being able to closely work hand-in-hand with clients while cultivating excitement. Rather than using the world’s most advanced technology to assume the role of leader, the ID Group works in unison with our clients. We talk with clients in order to determine their needs and then collaborate with clients to determine the optimal solutions. I believe that this attitude is of the utmost importance.

Previously, I was the sub-leader of a project and was involved in training team members. Although the different goals of each member made management difficult, I enjoyed devising various ideas for training. Going forward, I aim to become a leader who is part of the team, rather than being a heavy-handed leader who drags others along. I hope to someday be a leader in the ID Group. I will strive to become a manager who is easy to talk with, thereby improving communication between supervisors and subordinates.
