Thinking about what I wanted to do in the future and what I would need to learn now to get there, I realized that the IT industry was the best fit for me, so I set my sights on it. Within this field, my reasons for selecting the ID Group were that it was an independent corporate group and it had overseas branches. Unlike companies affiliated with a user group or manufacturer group, the ID Group has no parent company and is independent. Since it’s not dependent on or limited by a parent company, it can do business with a wide range of industries. The opportunity to deal with a wide variety of business fields was attractive to me. On a personal note, I was interested in working overseas, so the ID Group, which offers such opportunities, appealed to me.
That desire drives me forward and motivates me.
Waku-Waku is the feeling I get when I realize how much I’ve grown as a person!
When I become able to do something I couldn’t do before, or understand something I didn’t before, the desire to learn how to do even more wells up inside me. My background is in the humanities, so my programming experience and knowledge of the IT world were pretty much zero. Now that I’ve gotten a little used to coding, I sometimes look at things I happen to see or hear in my daily routine and think, “I’ll bet if I worked at it I could make one of these myself!” I see the possibilities in parts of my everyday milieu that I never noticed before and it’s an exciting feeling.
These days my work mostly involves research and development in AI. I write in-house releases on services that use AI, conduct surveys on learning AI and improving its accuracy, and so forth. One of the services I created is an AI tool that generates meeting minutes. In research I was involved in recently, I demonstrated the use of an AI model for image classification, which sorts images into categories based on the content of each image. In the future I want to keep thinking about things it would be nice to have, ask myself if they can be implemented, and then get to work making them.
How much can you grow after joining the ID Group? Looking around at the people around me, I’ve come to the conclusion that willingness to be frank, tenacity and curiosity greatly impact your ability to grow. When faced with the binary choice of “do it or don’t do it,” it’s important to give it a go as many times as possible. When you do, those three qualities I mentioned—frankness, tenacity and curiosity—will back you up. Even today, I still have many tasks that strike me as troublesome or that I want to postpone. But I’m still determined to build up my record of tackling fresh challenges. I hope you will join me.
