As a fresh graduate tackling the IT world with no experience, I attached the greatest importance to the ID Group’s impressive complement of training and educational programs. In the year that I joined, I spent about six months taking classes on the basics of being a working adult and developing apps using Java. In the process I earned qualifications as a basic IT engineer and as a Java programmer, thereby acquiring the necessary foundations to work in the IT industry. I was impressed that the ID Group had a long corporate history yet was continuing to develop today and was rapidly expanding its global reach—in fact, these were reasons why I joined the company.
Today I work as a security engineer, advising customers on resolving their security concerns, analyzing security logs and producing educational content on security. I’ve also joined the security team of one of our customers, in which I manage security by conducting daily log monitoring, improving operations and analyzing threat information. I have a variety of other duties as well, such as leading presentations on security with customers and offering opinions on production of generative-AI tools.
At the ID Group we get plenty of opportunities to have conversations with directors and other higher-ups. During general training, for example, the president offers an address, and we can talk directly to senior people at informal get-togethers and the like. This may be true of the ID Group generally, but where I work I have found even higher-up people to be quite approachable, so even young employees like me can talk to them without getting nervous. One of the appealing points about the ID Group is its culture of open dialogue, where upper-level managers take pains to listen to what frontline workers are saying. At my workplace, I find many of the people to be amicable and serious about their work. They’re ready to listen carefully to the opinions of younger employees and actively involve them in teams, so new ideas and views can easily be incorporated into ongoing projects. Veterans and greenhorns support each other to move projects forward, so I feel that I can focus on doing the best work I can.
At the beginning I relied on my senior colleagues a lot. As I continued to take on responsibilities, however, I gradually acquired my own body of specialized knowledge, so now I can field questions from customers on my own. By studying to earn qualifications in parallel with my regular duties, I gained the ability to explain things to customers with confidence. When I receive words of thanks, it really strikes me how much I’ve grown. I still depend on my colleagues for a lot of things, but I’m confident that I’ll keep growing, so that one day I can work on the level of a senior employee. In the previous fiscal year, I participated for a full year in a research group as a representative of the company, conducting research on applications for generative AI; I’m looking forward to deepening my knowledge of the subject. Generative AI is a new technology and not many people are well versed in it yet, so if I spearhead the effort to learn all about it I think I can really contribute to my department and company.
